RESCENE ride "Pretty Girl" to No. 1s, a CU partnership and a September awards stage

The KARA remake topped Melon's Top 100 a day after release, older track "LOVE ATTACK" finished its revival run with an Inkigayo win, and the brand deals are now stacking up for THE MUZE Entertainment's five-member group.

Summary

  • RESCENE's special single "Pretty Girl," a remake of KARA's 2008 title track released July 8, hit No. 1 on Melon's Top 100 the following day. The group's official channel itself called it a completed chart-revival story.
  • The wave carried an older track too: "LOVE ATTACK" capped its resurgence with a No. 1 trophy on SBS' Inkigayo in late July, and "Pretty Girl" collected its own music-show win.
  • August brought a convenience-store partnership with CU, a Hanskin beauty campaign with Zena and Minami, and an invitation to the SPOTV K-POP AWARDS stage on September 6.

If this summer had an underdog story in K-pop, it belongs to RESCENE. The five-member group under THE MUZE Entertainment — Woni, Liv, Minami, May and Zena, who debuted in March 2024 — released the special single "Pretty Girl" on July 8, a remake of KARA's 2008 title track. One day later the group's official channel posted that the song had reached No. 1 on Melon's Top 100, calling it the completion of a chart-revival story.

The revival was not limited to the new single. "LOVE ATTACK," an earlier track that had been climbing back up the charts alongside the group's viral short-form clips, finished its run with a No. 1 trophy on SBS' Inkigayo in late July — the official account described it as a tearful first win that closed out the revival. "Pretty Girl" collected a music-show trophy of its own days earlier, and the group's thank-you post showing the members' live reaction became one of its most-shared updates of the year.

The momentum is visible in who wants to stand next to the group. The "Pretty Girl" dance challenge has pulled in TOMORROW X TOGETHER's Soobin and members of rookie group ALPHA DRIVE ONE, and the group performed the halftime show for a Coupang Play Series match in August.

Brands followed. On August 21, convenience-store chain CU announced a partnership with RESCENE built around the line "meeting RESCENE in every scene of daily life," and skincare brand Hanskin unveiled a campaign fronted by members Zena and Minami the same day. Merchandise is moving too: an official plush keyring went up for pre-order on August 21, and a special-edition "LOVE ATTACK" timepiece collaboration was announced through fan-commerce platform Higher.

Next on the calendar is an awards stage. RESCENE will appear at the SPOTV K-POP AWARDS on September 6, an invitation the group relayed to fans — its fandom is named REMINE — over the weekend. The group closed out the week with a YouTube live on August 24.

Editor's take

The interesting part of RESCENE's summer is the order of operations. The wins came first, from a remake and a back-catalog revival — the cheapest possible inventory — and the brand deals came after. That is the reverse of how big-agency rookies are usually built, where partnerships are pre-sold on debut. For a mid-size label like THE MUZE, it is also the only playbook available: let short-form clips do the marketing, then convert the attention into CU shelves and beauty campaigns while the charts are still warm. Whether "Pretty Girl" is remembered as a peak or a launchpad depends on what the group releases next — but the September 6 awards stage gives them one more national broadcast window to keep the run alive. Watch the fourth-quarter comeback; that is where this stops being a revival story and has to become a discography.
