Adobe

Adobe is the company that makes Photoshop and Premiere. Founded in 1982, it's a familiar name to anyone who works with images and video.

Adobe's AI efforts go under the name Firefly, but that name actually points to two different things, which causes confusion. One is the model Adobe trained itself. The other is an app that lets you pick between that model and models from other companies. Right now, inside the Firefly app, you can choose from more than thirty models made by companies like Google, OpenAI, Kling, and Luma.

This distinction matters because of copyright. What Adobe guarantees as "commercially safe" is output made with its own Firefly model — not output made with other companies' models chosen inside the app. Blurring the two together produces statements that aren't actually true.

In 2026, Adobe also produced and posted its own short-form series, "Me and My Clones," to promote its avatar and clone features — another sign of tool companies increasingly acting like content studios themselves.

"Made with Firefly" — this could mean made with Adobe's own model, or made with someone else's model inside Adobe's app. The two need to be told apart.
