Higgsfield

Higgsfield is a company that rents out an entire AI video and image production studio. It was founded in San Francisco in 2023 by Alex Mashrabov and Yerzat Dulat. Mashrabov previously led the generative AI team at Snapchat.

One thing about this company trips people up a lot. Higgsfield builds its own models, but it also uses other companies' models. Soul, which produces photorealistic images, and DoP, which produces cinematic camera movement, are models Higgsfield built itself. At the same time, it also plugs in models made by OpenAI, Google, and ByteDance. So a "video made by Higgsfield" might actually have been rendered by someone else's model. Both things are true.

A restaurant comparison makes this clear. Higgsfield is the restaurant: it uses its own house-made sauce (its own models) but also buys good ingredients from outside (external models). What the customer gets is the finished dish — a cinema-studio-like workspace complete with lens and color-grading controls. No matter where the ingredients came from, the restaurant is the one that cooked the meal.

As of August 2026, it's one of the fastest-growing companies in AI video. Its valuation quadrupled in eight months to $5.4 billion, it released a 110-minute AI feature film starring real actors, and that film screened at the computer graphics conference SIGGRAPH alongside works from Pixar and Disney. The marketing tactic of publishing the full prompts behind its flagship work is also something this company popularized.

"Higgsfield released a short film using Seedance 2.5" — the model that actually rendered the video was Seedance, made by ByteDance, but Higgsfield chose that model, designed the scenes, and edited it all together into a finished piece. Using only one half of that story would be inaccurate.
